THE TWO PARISHES OF LIQUELEVA AND LIBERDADE

The two parishes, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus - Liqueleva, and Our Lady of Assumption - Liberdade, are run by two Consolata Missionary priests: Fr. Phelix Richard Odongo (Kenyan) and Fr. Toussaint Twitte (Congolese). The two parishes are also served by a group of Religious Sisters from four different congregations of which their convents are found within the locality.

"ST. THERESA OF THE CHILD JESUS" - LIQUELEVA (MAPUTO)

The parish was founded in the year 1948. It has a population of about 30,000 inhabitants of which about 8,000 are Catholics. It has 4 Christian communities and a total of 45 volunteer catechists. Among the social and educative activities the parish is running two pre-primary schools and a well equipped Library for Primary and High school students.

"OUR LADY OF ASSUMPTION" - LIBERDADE (MAPUTO)

The parish was founded in 1982 and has a population of about 20,000 inhabitants. The number of Christian Catholics is around 6,000 with 30 volunteer catechists. The parish is divided into two big communities, of which each community can be a parish of its own. In its educative activities the Parish has let a community secondary school within its compound with over 400 students.
